Trainer for a Day

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in what it is like to be a zookeeper.  As a participant, you’ll start your experience with a discussion of operant conditioning (the training method used by our zoo). You’ll then spend time in the zoo where you’ll visit different animal areas. You’ll learn how the zookeepers work with many different animals and you’ll even have the opportunity to take part in training sessions. These programs include a meal(s).

Full Day:
As a Trainer for a Day, you’ll start your program with a continental breakfast and a discussion of operant conditioning (the training method used by our zoo).  You’ll then spend the day in the zoo where you will visit four different animal areas. You’ll learn how the zookeepers work with many different animals and you’ll even have the opportunity to take part in training sessions.  This experience includes lunch at The Safari Café.

  • 1-2 people
  • Members: $275 per person
  • Non-member: $300 per person

Half Day:
In this half day program, you’ll start with a discussion of operant conditioning (the training method used by our zoo). You’ll then spend your morning or afternoon in the zoo where you’ll visit two different animal areas. You’ll learn how the zookeepers work with many different animals and you’ll even have the opportunity to take part in training sessions. This experience includes lunch at The Safari Café.

    • Afternoons: 12:00pm-3:00pm
    • 1-2 people
    • Members: $150 per person
    • Non-members: $175 per person

Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tour price does not include admission.
